Bess’s Egypt Trip - Day 3
Looking for a genuine Egypt experience? Try the 2nd class train! This picture cannot even capture the way this train looked (let alone smelled). Luckily, we were only headed to Luxor, only about 3 hours north of Aswan…3 hours was more than enough. After arriving at Luxor and being bombarded with man after man trying to get us to go to their hotel, we decided to stick to our original plan of going to the Bob Marley Hotel. It might sound ridiculous, but of all the places we stayed in Egypt they proved to be the most friendly and helpful. Amr, the owner, is trying his darndest to change the perception foreigners have of Egyptians (that of being cheats and/or crooks). We wandered around yet another ancient temple - Karnak and ended the day with a felucca (small sail boat) ride on the Nile (with a pit stop at Banana Island along the way).
