Top 5 of Yom Kippur in Jerusalem:
1. No cars on the streets. After Kol Nidre, everyone takes a walk down Emek Refayim, a main drag in Jerusalem, and the streets are filled with people walking and riding bikes (really tests your YK spirit when children ride over your feet with their scooters).
2. The 2 year old child standing in the middle of services playing the kazoo. God forbid the mom takes her outside.
3. The afternoon nap. Our classmate Bethie says you are closest to God when you are sleeping, so we felt it was a priority to get a quick nap in there.
4. Services in the Blaustein Hall, which overlooks the Old City, with our amazing cantorial students, Steve, Allison, and Amanda.
5. HUC Break-fast potluck. Nine varieties of kugel never tasted so good.
