Simchat Torah at Kibbutz Gezer
The Jewish month of Tishrei has a plethora of holidays (many of which you of course have followed our experiences of on the blog) and each one keeps getting better. We just finished chilling in Sukkot and it was time to dance with the Torah after rolling it back to start the yearly cycle of reading all over again with Simchat Torah. Beautiful. A contingent of HUC students (and the lovable Tick family) headed to Kibbutz Gezer for a wonderful Simchat Torah in the Park. Here is our top 5:
1. Watching Josh Beraha lead a dance circle for the 10 and under crowd
2. Hearing their medley of international music including The Monkee’s “I’m a Believer”
3. Seeing a monk break it down with an Israeli in celebration of the Torah
4. Being welcomed by the warm and lovely people of Gezer
5. Getting lots of Torah AND Dancing time.
