For the 3rd night of Hanukkah, Bess and Molly joined classmates at the Mevasseret Absorption Center for Ethiopian immigrants.

Here’s our Top 5 Interesting/Disturbing Discoveries of the Evening:

1. Been away from religious school too long? Clearly, we forgot that ten year old boys love to pop balloons.

2. Boys are overrated. We managed to find the quietest girl in the crowd, Wanishet, and spent the evening playing Hanukkah Memory with her.

3. Since this was a Hanukkah celebration just for the families HUC students work with, they locked the doors of the community center after we arrived, and the entire time there were other kids banging on the doors and windows. It was kind of disturbing.

4. The entire experience was kind of disturbing. Don’t get us wrong, it was a crazy mess of fun, and the little girls are adorable, but everything about the situation there felt kind of sad and depressing.

5. The “slide” at the “playground” was not exactly a slide.
