We couldn’t round up all the cats, but on the way out we tried to snap as many photos as possible…

We think we’ve uncovered the truth about why there are so many cats in Jerusalem. Don’t believe those stories about needing to import cats to take care of a rat problem. Once upon a time, Jerusalem was a city made of gold (they don’t call it “Jerusalem of Gold” for nothing) and some genius fell for the marketing scheme known as “Cats for Gold”.
Consider this a warning: whenever you see the claim “As Seen on TV”, run far away….

Cat Photo of the Day - Sinai Edition!
Bess and her travel mates from Egypt decided to escape to Sinai for the weekend. The cats are seemingly less feral here and are exponentially more friendly. Here is a cat that decided to join the table next to us for breakfast, I don’t think I remember seeing him at Sinai.

Jerusalem Cats Photo of the Day!
We don’t usually post so many cat photos in a row, but these past few days have provided some real gems.
These are not the best photos, but they are proof that there were two Jerusalem cats stuck in our classroom today. Molly and Bess stumbled upon them, and we’re not sure who was freaking out more, Molly and Bess (on Moshe Hess) or the cats. Molly jumped up on the table and the cats started running from window to window looking for an escape route. In a moment of desperation, one of the cats jumped into the window (think “bird flies into window”, but with a cat), but it proved to be useless.
After obtaining footage for the blog (remember: the blog always comes first), Bess lovingly led these animals to the door. Nothing to worry about, there was no touching involved.
